Hello, everyone! I’m Ms. Burgess and I’m originally from the Caribbean but moved to the southern U.S., living and teaching in South Carolina and Georgia for over six years. While I’m new to AACPS, Maryland has always felt like a second home since I’ve frequently visited family here. I’m thrilled to be joining the World Languages Department as a Spanish teacher—sharing a language and culture I’m truly passionate about. This will be my 3rd year teaching in AACPS. I previously taught Kindergarten for my first 2 years at Rippling Woods Elementary. I am super excited to join the MacArthur Middle team because I am passionate about allowing space for students to discover how to express themselves using movement and dance. My boyfriend (Cameron) and I recently just moved to the Brooklyn Park area and we are super excited! I also currently teach at a studio in Edgewater MD, called Class Act Performing Arts Studio. Hi, my name is Breonna Booker, and I’m your career coach. I graduated from Florida A&M University with a bachelor’s in psychology in 2022. I have a passion for helping young people grow and succeed, and since 2016, I’ve worked with students of all ages to guide them toward personal growth, academic achievement, and career success. I believe that with the right support and guidance, every young person has the potential to achieve great things. That’s why I’m dedicated to working with students during this stage, helping them develop essential skills, explore career interests, and build a mindset that will set them up for success. My goal is to not only help students dream big but also give them the tools and encouragement they need to turn those dreams into reality. I look forward to working with your child and being part of their journey toward a bright future!

Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the Anne Arundel County Chapter of the National Action Network will host a forum to discuss education and law enforcement issues from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, in the Board Room of the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell will be joined by members of the county and city of Annapolis police departments as well as the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office. I am Ms. Hall and I’m elated to be joining MacArthur Middle School this year! I started my journey in 2017 as a Social Studies teacher at Prince George’s County Public Schools. I am excited to be teaching my next favorite subject: SCIENCE! I am a Maryland native and a mom of 3 beautiful boys! I consider myself an “artist,” in every sense of the word, because I am a musician; I am a violinist and a singer, I love drawing, creating, photography, etc. If it is artsy, I LOVE IT! Hi, I am Ms. Smith and I will be joining MacArthur this year as a new Math teacher! I substituted last year for MacArthur and I am excited to join the staff full time. A little about me is that I grew up in Jamaica but I am very excited to have the opportunity to live and work in the USA. I have been living here for almost five years and there is so many places that I want to visit. Hi! This will be my first year with AACPS, and I am so excited to get started! I grew up in Carroll County MD, and began my educational journey as an instructional assistant at Mount Airy Elementary (where I went to school!) I fell in love with 6th grade after student teaching at Northwest Middle. My favorite job so far, though, has been working at Walt Disney World! I am also a travel agent with Pixie Travel Co. After teaching Social Studies at Southern Middle School for six years, I served as Social Studies Department Chair at Central Middle School for the past two years. I’m looking forward to being an Alternative One teacher at MacArthur Middle School this year! Outside of school, I got married in June ‘24 and I’m an avid traveler – this summer I’m taking my long-awaited trip to Japan.
