I am honored to join MacArthur this year as the 8th grade ELA teacher. I was born and raised in Newark, NJ, and I am a United States Navy veteran. My educational philosophy is rooted in vulnerability and modeling; I believe students learn most from what we do rather than what we say. Therefore, I strive each day to demonstrate positivity through my thoughts, actions, and feelings. I am truly excited to be part of the MacArthur team and look forward to a meaningful and successful school year together. Favorites: Color - Purple Sports - Water Polo Snack - Pistachios Drink - Coffee Bachelor of Arts in Literature & Writing - California State Univ. – San Marcos Master of Arts in English – Rutgers Univ. – Camden

Hello there! I’m Payton! I’m thrilled to kick off my third year in education! My journey in education began when I stepped into a classroom as a substitute teacher at Cradlerock Elementary and I haven’t looked back since. That experience sparked a true passion for teaching, and I’ve been dedicated to growing in this field ever since. I’ve had the unique opportunity to live all over the U.S., and even spent two years in Okinawa, Japan when I was 14 and visit Korea! Those travels gifted me with a love for diverse cultures and perspectives, something I bring with me into the classroom every day. I’m beyond excited for the 2025–2026 school year and can’t wait to see what’s in store for us at MacArthur Middle! Favorites: Color - Purple & Black Sports - NHL or MLB Snack - Junior mints :) Drink - Iced Coffee Other - My Puppy and the season Fall 🧡 Born in St. Louis Missouri Went to the University of Colorado Denver Received a Bachelors in Criminal Justice Going to UMD for Special Education I have a German Shorthaired Pointer
