This year, we are creating a Culture Tree to celebrate the beautiful diversity that makes our school community so special. We are inviting each family to send in a small ornament, trinket, or symbol that represents your culture, heritage, or family traditions.
It can be anything—a flag, a small keepsake, a handcrafted item, or something meaningful from your celebrations or background. Your contribution will help our students see themselves (and each other!) represented as we learn about the many cultures that make up our Tiger family.
Please send your item to school with your child by [insert date] so we can add it to our Culture Tree.
Thank you for helping us celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that make CSPES truly Unstoppable. 🐯💛🧡

💛 And finally...
If your family needs a little extra help, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re here for you.
And if you can’t give right now, that’s okay too — you can always send positive vibes and kind thoughts to our community. We can always use those. 🐅✨

Dear CSPES Families,
We understand that the recent government shutdown may be creating financial challenges for some of our families. If your household has been affected by furloughs or changes in income, you may now be eligible for Free and Reduced-Price Meals for your student(s).
We encourage any family whose financial situation has recently changed to complete an application, even if you've previously completed it for this school year. This program can provide valuable support during this time.
You can complete the application online (https://frapps.horizonsolana.com/ANNA02). If you have multiple children enrolled at our school, please note that only one application per family is needed. If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please contact our main office at 443-883-3919. For more information, visit the AACPS Food & Nutrition Website (https://www.aacps.org/page/apply-for-free-or-reduced-price-meals).
We are here to help and want to make sure every student and family feels supported. We will get through this uncertain time, together.
Warmly,
Sarah Schlegel
CSPES Asst. Principal

The number of Anne Arundel County Public Schools to earn five stars on the Maryland Report Card rose 36 percent in the 2024-25 school year compared to the previous year, with an AACPS record 15 schools now holding the state’s highest rating, according to data released by the Maryland State Department of Education today.
For complete details, go to the AACPS News Release page.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County has changed the time of the closed session it will hold on Monday, November 3, 2025, and will now meet prior to its scheduled public hearing on the Phase 2 redistricting process.
For details, go to the AACPS news release page.

🎃 TGIF, CSPES!
We hope all our families and students have a fun and safe time tonight if you celebrate Halloween! Remember to watch for traffic, stay with a group, and don’t forget to check your treats before enjoying them. 🍬✨
When we return on Monday, students will have the chance to earn a limited-edition $5 Temi Ticket 🎟️ in one of two ways:
1️⃣ Bring in a Ziploc baggie of candy (sandwich-size or larger)
2️⃣ Bring in a box of tissues
🍭 Candy is used throughout the year for staff and student incentives, and tissues are always appreciated—especially as we head into sniffle season! 🤧
Participation is completely optional! We will accept candy and tissue donations on Monday and Tuesday, only!
The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will have further discussions about the six Phase 2 redistricting proposals currently under consideration at its next regular business meeting, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
At the meeting, the Board will also:
• consider approval of a new middle school course – Integrated Computational Thinking – and three new high school courses – Forensic Science 2, Advanced Placement Cybersecurity, and Advanced Placement Business Education With Personal Finance.
• conduct the first of three readings on revisions to the Policy IIC, Graduation Requirements and the accompanying regulation. The revisions would reduce the number of credits needed for graduation from 26 to 22.5, still higher than the state minimum, by requiring fewer elective credits.
More details can be found on the AACPS news release page.

This Thursday, November 6, 2025, we’re coming together as a school community to make a difference! 💚💛🖤
Our amazing teachers have families in Jamaica who were impacted by the recent Category 5 hurricane, and we want to show our support and love.
👕 How to Participate:
Bring a donation of any size! All students can dress down. Students are encouraged to wear yellow, green, and black (the colors of the Jamaican flag).
🎁 Bonus:
Every donation will receive a bracelet honoring Jamaica 🇯🇲
Let’s come together to lift up our extended school family. Your generosity will make a real difference for those rebuilding after this devastating storm. 💚
