8:00 p.m., 1/8/25: To answer a question we have received about Thursday morning’s reassessment: The reassessment would allow school system staff to continue to address any issues at schools. It does not mean students would report to school at their standard start times or that students would engage in virtual instruction. We have every expectation that we will open schools on a two-hour delayed schedule Thursday. We hope this clarifies the issue.

Good Evening!
Tomorrow we will be in person, but running on a 2-hour delay. Please plan to arrive at 9:40.
Thanks to our custodians, our lots and sidewalks look great! Keep in mind, some sidewalks in the neighborhoods have not been cleared.
Please take your time, and be safe! See you tomorrow!

4:30 p.m., 1/8/25: All Anne Arundel County Public Schools will open two hours late on Thursday, Jan. 9. There will be no morning half-day ECI classes, and no morning sessions at the Centers of Applied Technology North or South. Families transporting students to school and those whose students walk to school should allow additional time and utilize extreme caution. A reassessment of conditions will take place on Thursday morning and any changes to this status will be announced by 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Due to the weather, our Squisto's night will be cancelled tonight. We will reschedule for a later date. Thank you!

Our #AACPSAwesome Operations teams are out at schools this morning clearing lots and walks so that we can get students and staff back to school as quickly as possible. Please do your part by staying away from these areas so crews can do their work.
Residents should also clear the sidewalks in front of their homes so our students have safe paths to walk to schools when they reopen.
Let's all pitch in together! Thanks!

No, Bob doesn’t know yet if there will be school on Monday. But Bob DOES KNOW you can help support CAT South students going to state, regional, and national competitions through the purchase of “Keep Calm” apparel. All of the proceeds help CAT South students. You can place orders at https://www.catsouth.org/schoolstore.
As for Monday, we’ll all just have to stay tuned. Bob will let you know when he knows.

Families,
Due to the snow forecasted for Monday, we wanted to be sure you knew our plans! This year, the Maryland State Department of Education requires schools to use all their calendar approved “snow days” prior to implementing a virtual schedule. AACPS has 3 snow days built into the calendar. This means that if we receive enough snow on Monday, schools will close for staff and students.
This would also be the case for Tuesday and Wednesday.
IF a 4th day of school building closures is required, AACPS is prepared to make it a virtual learning day. Today, your student brought home copies of literacy and math workbook pages. These pages will ONLY be used Thursday (January 9) and/or Friday (January 10) IF we shift to virtual learning. Please leave them in your student’s folder until then.
Teachers reminded students how to log onto Brightspace to access their Google Meet link.
Grades PreK-2 will have asynchronous learning. This means they will NOT have direct online instruction, but WILL have the option to log onto BrightSpace and a Google Meet to access support from their teachers. Teachers will be live, online for Office Hours.
Grades 3-5 will have synchronous learning. This means that they will log into BrightSpace to access their google meet and have direct instruction from their teacher via an online classroom.
In order to be marked present, students in any grade without access to technology or internet should still complete the workbook pages sent home and submit them to their teacher when we return.
Please visit the GBPE Virtual Day Schedule for specific times. The virtual school day runs from 9:00 am -2:15 pm.
Please email Mrs. McFarland @ cmcfarland@aacps.org or your child’s teacher with any questions.
Follow AACPS on Thrillshare Rooms, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for the most current school closure updates.
